Heroin use terrorises Galway residents

An increase in the dumping of drug paraphernalia in Galway city is a worry for the public and the Health Service Executive, according to the HSE West’s regional drugs coordinator.

Residents living in the Westside, Ballinfoyle and Ballybane areas in particular are finding used syringes and needles in their neighbourhoods.

Galway City Councillor Mike Cubbard said people in the Westside area alone have found blood stained socks filled with syringes in playgrounds, needles in their back gardens and tinfoil, used here for smoking heroin, in the streets.
